Doctor Simpo

This summer I have been lucky enough to be able to undertake a spot of work experience with a chap known as Doctor Simpo aka Ben Simpson. 'Chap' is definitely a word that should be used in any description of him. Doctor Simpo is a comic book creator currently residing in Leeds, who produces such publications as Doctor Simpo's Things and Stuff which features numerous characters in various scrapes along with some collaborations with other comic book artists. It is fair to say I have gone away with a new appreciation of the work that goes into producing just a single strip. I helped out a little with Things and Stuff no.7, checking the that the white areas where white and the black areas were black and also coloured a couple of backgrounds. I also got a mention! (See above, click to enlarge!). Doctor Simpo's attention to detail is intense. I also helped produce an animation that may end up on the BBC children's website and coloured some characters. I am a whizz on the old felt tips though. I had an interesting time and I feel I have a greater understanding of what working for myself would be like... i'm afraid!
